DocuBrowse

Search your documents by meaning, not just keywords.

DocuBrowse indexes your PDFs, ebooks, Word files, notes and more, then lets you find that contract about the lease renewal even when those exact words never appear. It runs entirely on your own machine. No accounts, no API keys, no per-query cost.

Built for finding things

Local AI models do the heavy lifting on your hardware, so your documents never leave your machine.

🔍

Dual search modes

SQLite FTS5 keyword search, AI semantic search, or a hybrid of both that keeps the stronger score for every document.

🎯

Deep Links

Jump to the matching passage inside a document, with the matched text highlighted and labeled by page, line or section.

📖

AI synopsis

Click any title for a book-jacket summary generated locally on demand and cached after the first run.

📚

Dozens of formats

PDF, Office, OpenDocument, EPUB/MOBI, DjVu, Visio, draw.io, email, LaTeX, markup, source code and more.

🛡️

PII protection

A post-ingest scanner finds SSNs, card and bank numbers and more, then removes and permanently blacklists those documents.

⚡

Fast and light

Typical search under 150 ms. Parallel extraction and memory limits keep large scans safe. Works without a GPU.

See it in action

Your data. Your AI.

DocuBrowse binds to localhost only and is hardened against hostile web pages: Host-header allow-listing, CSRF tokens on every state-changing call, and escaped output. Embeddings and synopses come from local Ollama models. Nothing is sent to the cloud.
